The symphonic poem Flaine recounts the epic story of the design and construction of this Haute-Savoie resort, from the dream of Eric and Sylvie Boissonnas to the architectural achievement of Marcel Breuer.
Both a geophysicist and a patron of the arts, Eric Boissonnas had already imagined, in 1968, to combine the poetry and magic of this domain with the strength of contemporary architecture, in order to host, alongside winter sports, an intense artistic activity, notably musical.
At the same time, Sylvie focused on the visual arts, in particular an art center with renowned exhibitions…
It’s this abundance of sound and vision that has always fascinated me at the summer academies held here for the past 40 years, and directed by my dear friend Bruno Latouche since 1998.
This work should therefore be listened to as a journey, guided by the moving memories of this couple’s passion for art and culture.
