Ever passionate about film music and the connections between music and images, Olivier Calmel has composed music for documentaries, short films and feautre-lengths, institutional films and animations, as well as for video games. As concert pianist, he performs in various concert halls and festivals such as the Théâtre du Châtelet, Enghien Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vannes, Jazz à Arras, Musiques au Présent, Jazz à Montmartre, Jazz en Nord, MusicaJazz, Festival Klasik, and others. He has also collaborated with artists such as Michael Portal and Pierre Arditi, as well as musical directors including Laëtitia Trouvé, Béatrice Warcollier, Marie-Noëlle Maerten, Aurélien Azan Zielinski, Vincent Renaud, Sébastien Billard, Nicolas Simon, Mathias Charton, Gildas Harnois, Marc Hajjar, Florent Didier, Victor Jacob, Dylan Corlay, Benjamin Garzia and many more.
His works include many pieces for orchestra and chamber ensembles, voice, jazz, film, and educational music. His activities range from composition and orchestration for film music, commissions for orchestras and contemporary ensembles, and jazz.
