The first in a series of three works, three Caídas (Falls) for large orchestra, Caída libre is based on a poem by Colombian artist Juan Diego Bustos Moreno. It deals with falling, movement, air, energy, struggle, and moments of extremes.
In my imagination, this poem is associated with Pasolini, his death, his commitment, his brilliance. At the heart of the score is an echo of Giovanna Marini’s song Lamento per la morte di Pasolini.
The score begins with a single gesture after the fall. The music attempts to rise again, to resume its movement towards the final ascent.
