This piece for 5 polyphonic instruments was commissioned by the Lorient Conservatory.
The title refers directly to the construction of the piece, from which emerge sounds that one might imagine somewhere in the cosmos, within an immense cloud of gas called Cocoon, and witness the birth of a star; a very summary explanation, but one that guided the birth of this piece. The materials used here, in order to be as close as possible to my imagination, were glissandi in the lower strings of the piano and harp, the appearance of a held element, triple piano, barely audible from the accordion, glissandi on the vibraphone and, little by little, more concrete sounds, rhythms, harmonies, even violent tremolos on the accordion and so on… yes, it tells the story of the emergence of different elements, a kind of creation of the world in a nutshell, ending with glissandi fortissimo that remain for the time of the natural resonance of the instruments.
It’s not an end, but a beginning.
