Les Chants du Ciel draws its inspiration from the sonic language of Nature. The work unfolds as a true soundscape a layering of acoustic landscapes transposed into an inner drama and a reimagined world of sound.
It begins with a distant storm: a barely perceptible rumble, a sonic horizon that slowly draws nearer. Rain sets in, the storm intensifies until it becomes all-encompassing, almost chaotic, immersing the listener in a vibrant, pulsating texture.
Then, gradually, calm is restored. Birdsong re-emerges, life seems to renew itself. The storm fades, the wind disperses the clouds, and an ethereal voice—like an emanation of Nature itself—appears to rise from the depths of the earth.
The work does not seek to imitate Nature through literal figuralism, which would only be an imperfect copy. Instead, it draws on recognizable, coded signs—recurring birdsong, rumbles, the spatial movement of sounds—and projects them into an imaginary realm, a parallel space where these elements take on a new dimension.
Les Chants du Ciel thus invites the listener to be swept through these successive sequences, to hear these familiar phenomena as if they emerged from a different world—a Nature reimagined, open to inner interpretation
