Liesse (jubilation) is a festive eight-minute piece for an orchestra of any number of musicians. Other musicians can take their place in the hall, dispersed in one or more quintets of any instrument grouped in 5 tessituras: very high, high, medium, low and very low. The score brings together the orchestra (on stage) and the quintet(s) (in the hall). The playing of the instruments is punctuated by expressions of joy such as foot-stomping, cheering and hand-clapping. The musicians on stage are equipped with small percussion instruments (bells, maracas, etc.), which they use at key points in the work. A short text in English, imagined by the composer and simply intended to complement the orchestral ambience, is inserted into the score. The part of the text assigned to the quintet(s) can also be spoken by the audience, if desired.
