Neige blanche que le ciel retient is a work for Noh singer (Utai) and cello, woven around five poems linked to the special exhibition The Beauty of Hospitality: Gathering of Noh and Tea at the Sen-Oku Hakukokan Museum in Tokyo.
Each poem is paired with a Noh costume from the exhibition, and the music arises from the delicate impressions left by their fabrics, colors, and textures, as well as the poetic imagery they embody. Sound shapes and timbres unfold and transform, echoing the shifting patterns, materials, and designs of the garments—like threads of resonance drawn through silk.
This piece is warmly dedicated to Ryoko Aoki
