Petite Suite

Petite Suite, for saxophone quartet in 4 movements:
1 – Moving stability
The 4 instruments are practically static and move with very small effects, oscillations, glissandi, trills or half-tone melismas and move slowly on
the notes G, G sharp, A ,B flat. From bar 12, the tenor and baritone will descend a few degrees while remaining in this calm, moving mobility.
2 – And Time Passes By
With one or two exceptions (bars 25 and 29), the baritone chants time on a note that is repeated throughout the piece. Time passes inexorably.
The 3 other instruments represent the sad or happy events of life.
3 – Winter
A great melancholy phrase in the soprano, supported by tender molto legato harmonies, represents the calm of a silent, deserted winter.
4 – Chiacchierata
This is a little conversation between friends. They recount small events, cut each other off, raise their voices, change the subject and become very
animated towards the end, with a final unison on the note C bringing the discussion to a close.
