The Râmâyana, a mythological epic written in Sanskrit 1,000 years ago, is one of the fundamental texts of Hinduism and Hindu mythology.

The original work in progress must reflect the greatness and universality of the work, and highlight the most emblematic characters and situations, values and ideals of this epic and timeless poem.

The music, the arias and recitatives integrate all the dramatic parameters as well as a completely personalized appropriation of elements from the Hindu culture.

Of course, the music is and remains fundamentally Western. A lifetime is hardly long enough to consider some of the essential elements of Indian classical music. According to Indian mythology, music has a divine origin: it is through sound that the god Brahma created the universe…
