Une goutte sur chaque épine explores the singular timbre of the twenty-five–string koto. Inspired by Yosa Buson’s celebrated haiku, the piece evokes the fragility of white dew, intertwining it with the traditional sonority of the instrument. Gradually, the musical gestures evolve toward more saturated textures and colors, reflecting the duality of the poem —between the fleeting delicacy of the dew and the harshness of the thorns. The timbres transform through recurring gestures, like dew adapting to the shape of each thorn.
