Baguala is a musical genre from north-west Argentina, in the province of Salta to be precise. This pre-Hispanic, non-choreographic song is characterised by its ternary rhythm. The melodic structure is built around two notes, the tonic, the fifth and the octave; and this song is accompanied by the Caja, an Andean drum that pulses like a beating heart.

In my Baguala I wanted to recreate the solitude, melancholy and melodic expressiveness that have always marked me in this
Andean musical genre, popularly known as Argentine Blues.
The expressive way in which the piano is played has enabled me to imagine a plastic world in which movement is organically
integrated into the music. The harmony (posed or chanted), the articulations in the discourse, and the repeated notes build this
ephemeral dance.
