Lignier

To write as closely as possible to a linear gesture, towards a line carrying tiny variations; a writing project embodied in a new piece for solo violin, echoing Anach, the first opus of my catalog. Six years later, a new attempt to concile with the instrument, this time no longer through excess or thedeployment and insatiable exploration of registers, but by a work of undermining the superfluous, in favor of an intervallic and timbral microscopy:
“large” seconds, “small” fourths, these acid sounds try to assert themselves with appeasement within an episodic form with the line as constant.
Lignier was commissioned by Radio France for the Presences 2022 Festival, for the violin by Carolin Widmann.
