In Argentinian slang, Yeite is a word with multiple meanings: it can refer to a fraudulent manoeuvre, a shady business deal, but in tango this word is used to describe a motif or phrase consisting of a short series of notes used at several moments in a melody or accompaniment, as well as a combination of percussive effects.
Yeites can also be modes of play, ways of doing things that are characteristic of the style and give the tango its identity.
At the request of the accordionist Anthony Millet, I have integrated elements from the Tango into this new piece. In the manner of an inventory, I selected some of the most representative Yeites of the Tango, and then transposed them to the required number of players: Accordion, two percussions and a trombone. In this new, anachronistic sound environment, these Yeites will be treated as miniatures, raw elements that will challenge the listener.
