The history of the rock band Pink Floyd was marked in 1968 by the forced departure of lead guitarist Syd Barrett, who had written most of the songs and had become unmanageable on stage due to excessive LSD consumption.                                               I wanted to take this suggestion literally, and imagine a piece that would combine, among other things, writing inspired by Syd Barrett’s guitar playing and the participation of two female saxophonists. This work is a little musical uchrony in the form of a tribute to one of the most fascinating and touching figures in twentieth-century popular music.
