This piece was born in 2021 at the initiative of Florence Vettes, choir director, who commissioned me to write a piece in Quechua for the Aude choir, an amateur ensemble from the city of Carcassonne. The first challenge was to become familiar with the Quechua language, its sounds, its sensoriality, the images it evoked: sometimes primitive, sometimes poetic.
In this anonymous poem, I distinguish two sections: the first in which universal things are expressed and the second in which the notion of the individual appears with his feelings and his social condition.
In the first section, the writing is based on an irregular ostinato using modes of play such as the recto-tono in the voice or blocked strings in the piano which express a certain primitivism.
In the second section, the solo voice appears and seeks to express the emotion of the text, evolving towards a more contrapuntal section.
