Biography

After a degree in percussion from the Université de Montréal, François Vallet-Tessier obtained his Master’s degree from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. At the same time, he became interested in the place of the body on stage, beyond music. He then tried his hand at theater with Annette Barthélemy, and was later introduced to “musical theater” after meeting Gaston Sylvestre, Jean-Pierre Drouet and Françoise Rivalland to write his dissertation on this discipline. In 2017, he was recruited as percussionist in the Je Garde Le Chien company for Claire Diterzi’s show L’Arbre en Poche. After an initial run of 30 dates in France, he was recruited for Roxane Kasperski and Elsa Granat’s new play: V.I.T.R.I.O.L., once again for the role of onstage percussionist.

He continued his role as an orchestral musician, playing with the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre National de Lille, the 3D Orchestra and the Orchestre Lamoureux. He has also made a name for himself as a percussion composer, with commissions from the Ensemble Dérive, the Trio Xénakis and the Paris Percussion Group, among others.
