Biography
Christian Dachez is a French composer, born in 1951. After studying music at the Lille C.R.R. (first prize in musical training), he studied trombone in Paris with Raymond Katarzinsky and conducting with Jean Claude Hartmann. A finalist in the Coupe du Président de la République accordion competition, he won first prize in harmony, fugue and counterpoint with Yvonne Desportes.
Christian Dachez composes several film scores, including Destin (1978) for the Paris Fantastic Festival, and works for advertising companies, cinema, television and songwriters such as Jacques Demarny, Michèle Senlis and Pierre André Dousset. Training in the techniques of the U.P.I.C. workshops and listening to Ligeti’s Requiem determined his final direction.
Ihe collaborates with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre de Perpignan-Méditerranée, Colonne, Orchestre de Flûtes Français, Accroche-note, Camerata Alma Viva, Impronta, Octuor de Violoncelles de Beauvais, Christophe Roy’s Nomos ensemble, Azalée, Zéphire, Traces d’Aujourd’hui, the Quintette “Just’à Cinq”, Hemera Artists, the vocal ensembles Musicatreize, Soli-Tutti, Chœur Britten and Ôm, the Théâtre de Lisieux, the Saxback ensemble and soloists such as Armand Angster, Françoise Kubler, Wilhem Latchoumia and Thomas Buckner, Catherine Gregory,William Winant, Mari Kobayashi, Alain Buet, Alain Damiens, Pierre-Yves Artaud, François Kerdoncuff, Nicolas Prost, Max Bonnay, Marika Lombardi, Valérie Guéroult, Filippo Mazzoli, Marta Pettoni, Emmanuel Hocdé, Danilo Russo, Fanny Vicens, Birgit Haverkock, Marie Andrée Jœrger, Philippe Kœrper, Ghislaine et Jean-Marc Petit Volta, Miliau Fauré, Yannick Ponzin, Jacques Lesburguères, Mélanie Génin, Jean-Claude Montac, Hélène Escriva, Hélène Diot, Lise Viricel, Aurore Baal , Chloé Ducray ,Aliénore Mancip, Emilie Heurtevent and other soloists…
Ihe has been commissioned by the Ars Nova, Accroche-note and Artédie ensembles, the Octuor de Violoncelles, the Orchestre de Flûtes Français, the Ensemble Vocal de Bourgogne and the Chœur de Chambre imagÔ, the association Les Amis de l’Orgue de Chambéry, the Festivals Aujourd’hui Musiques, de Violoncelle de Beauvais, Risonanze Armoniche de Trente (Italy), Promenades musicales du Pays d’Auge, SIMEC d’Amiens (Semaines Internationales de la Musique Electroacoustique et de la Créativité), Radio France for the Alla Breve program broadcast on France Musique and France Culture, the music conservatories of Lille, Perpignan, Arras, Amiens and Beauvais, the Académie de Gargilesse (Indre), New York baritone Thomas Buckner. Christian Dachez confesses to an obsession with the “note”: the musical and the sensory can be expressed in restricted areas of sound space, and thus with an economy of words. The only thing that counts is the directional movement that instills emotion and privileges the moment. He considers that every work is born of the mutation of pre-existing elements of sound matter, referring to Kandinsky’s Green Tree: his work is the representation of a single, unique work.
