MEÏMOUN François

Born in Angers in 1979, François Meïmoun won first prizes in piano, musical analysis (Prix de la Sacem 1999) and chamber music (Gérard Chenuet’s classes) at the Conservatoire National de Région d’Angers.
He continued his training in Paris at the Conservatoire Municipal du XIIIème arrondissement, where he won a prize for piano accompaniment.

Biography

Born in Angers in 1979, François Meïmoun won first prizes in piano, musical analysis (Prix de la Sacem 1999) and chamber music (Gérard Chenuet’s classes) at the Conservatoire National de Région d’Angers.
He continued his training in Paris at the Conservatoire Municipal du XIIIème arrondissement, where he won a prize for piano accompaniment.
In 2002, he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he obtained the Diplôme de Formation Supérieure d’Analyse Musicale (classes of Michael Levinas and Rémy Campos).
During this period, he created an instrumental ensemble with which he performed numerous works in concert (Piano Concerto Nos. 12, 21, 23 and the Gran Partita by W. A. Mozart, Concerto op. 61 by L. V. Beethoven, Les Nuits d’été by H. Berlioz, Fantaisie op. 131 by R. Schumann, etc.).
In 2007, he was accepted into Allain Gaussin’s composition class.
He is also interested in the practice of transcription, writing works for children and musical tales based on original ideas by Géraldine Aïdan.
In 2009, he was commissioned by Sacem and Cabaret contemporain to write two compositions for the soloists of the Ensemble Intercontemporain.
He continues his research activity at the École des Hautes Études (La Construction du langage de Pierre Boulez, 1942-1948, thesis under the direction of Alain Poirier).
He was awarded the Bourse des Muses 2009 for a book in preparation on the early works of Pierre Boulez.
He published a book of interviews with Pierre Boulez: La Naissance d’un compositeur, (ed. Aedam musicae) awarded the Coup de Coeur de l’Académie Charles Cros.
